BRI Pass/Fail Test Using the TSI-1569

1.

Use
with any portable ISDN BRI Test Set.
|
|

|
The
TSI-1569 is installed permanently in the Central Office (CO)
in a 19/23-inch rack. The CO technician will assign a TABLE
PHONE TEST number with a rollover feature capability according
to the switch translation table. This number will allow the
field test technician to dial to the TSI-1569. Once accessed
the TSI-1569 will perform a Pass/Fail BERT test from the CO
toward the handheld unit.

Set
the BERT Test in the TSI-1569 by typing table phone-num
test patt-num num-sec num-bit-err. This setup is performed
when the TSI-1569 is installed in the CO.

Set
the portable ISDN BRI test set in loopback mode.

|
5.
|
Dial
the TSI-1569 table number corresponding to the pattern, error
specifications and allows the TSI-1569 to start the test.

6.
|
The
TSI-1569 will start the test by trying to connect for 15 seconds
sending the test pattern. If the hand held BRI unit is not
in loopback mode the technician will hear an Alerting Tone
(NO SYNC) for a duration of 10 seconds. The TSI-1569 will
try to SYNC again for a duration of 10 seconds if it cannot
SYNC it will send and Alerting Tone (NO SYNC) for 10 seconds
and will disconnect the test.

The
BERT test will run for a period of time established in item
3. At the end of the test the technician will hear a continuous
1004Hz tone which is defined as a TEST PASS tone or a GOOD
LINE.

If
during the test the total error count exceeds the threshold
number as set in item 3, or if SYNC is lost, the technician
will hear an Alerting Tone which will be defined as a TEST
FAILED or BAD LINE.

By
selecting different Table Phone numbers the user can select
several test patterns, different test duration and different
bit error threshold.

10.
|
Using
the TSI-1569 will allow several technicians to test and install
ISDN BRI lines all at the same time.
